Numerous awards for MetaDesign

MetaDesign, Germany’s leading agency for corporate identity and branding, and its long-standing customers Audi and Volkswagen, won several prizes at the Automotive Brand Contest, the first international brand and design competition for the automobile industry. The seven-member expert jury selected the Audi brand as “Brand of the Year”. In the brand design category, Volkswagen’s “Think Blue.” brand rollout and “Das WeltAuto”, the carmaker’s used car program, were also awarded prizes.

MetaDesign won three awards at the red dot award: communication design, the world’s biggest international design competition. In the corporate design category, the striking look of the KLAVIERFIEBER piano/art festival was awarded the coveted design prize by the jury. The Volkswagen exhibition “Think Blue. Ideas.” won a red dot in the event design category. MetaDesign was responsible for the concept and implementation of the exhibition, which took place at the Automobilforum on Berlin’s Unter den Linden in November 2010. A further red dot award went to MetaDesign Zürich for the new corporate design of the Walser Privatbank.

The international jury evaluated a total of 6,468 entries this year, and awarded prizes to 608 of them. The red dot winners can be seen from 7 through 16 October in a special exhibition at the Alte Münze in Berlin.

Two works by MetaDesign won awards at this year’s Corporate Design Award, and five other works were nominated. Among the winners were the new brand rollout of Merck Millipore, a pharmaceutical company, and the corporate design of Volkswagen’s “Think Blue”. In addition, MetaDesign qualified for nominations with the following designs: the redesign of Siemens AG, the energy provider enercity, and ERGO Insurance, and the corporate designs of the Upper Franconia region and Volkswagen’s used car program “Das WeltAuto”.

In addition, ten works by MetaDesign were also nominated for the renowned 2012 German Design Award – including Audi mobile apps and Audi Type, the corporate designs of Commerzbank, eprimo, Munich Re, Bürgenstock Momente, Amprion, the Volkswagen Phaeton center and the “Think Blue. Ideas.” exhibition.

“These numerous awards and nominations at such top-level competitions as red dot, the Corporate Design Award and the 2012 German Design Award, as well as the newly established Automotive Brand Contest, are a wonderful success. The awards emphasize the diversity of MetaDesign’s expertise and the high quality standards of our branding work”, said Professor Uli Mayer-Johanssen, chairwoman of the executive board at MetaDesign.
