MetaDesign is three-time winner of iF communication design award 2009

Three MetaDesign projects were winners of this year’s iF communication design award. The new brand appearances for the energy supplier Entega and the solar energy company Younicos were recognized by the jury in the category cross media. In the category typography, the international typeface compendium “Our typefaces” for the Siemens Group won the coveted award.

Siemens worked together with the typeface developer URW++ to expand their proprietary typeface family “Siemens” to include all the world’s major lettering systems, enabling the global player to present itself to the world as one company in its writing as well. As the CI agency overseeing this process, MetaDesign created the compendium “Our typefaces”, consisting of two CD-ROMs and a booklet. With its premium quality materials and its understated yet confident design, the compendium communicates the Siemens look while boldly preparing the way for the globalization of the Siemens typeface.

Renewable and intelligent: The new brand look MetaDesign developed for ENTEGA communicates the company’s promise of future energy solutions. A clear corporate design and multi-sensory communication turn the brand into an experience as its striking design and playful light-heartedness communicate a definitive message: “Entega. Energy for the next generation.” An in-house campaign prepared the way for the brand’s relaunch and turned the company’s employees into active brand ambassadors.

Younicos is a joint venture of Solon Laboratories and I-Sol Ventures GmbH with the target of developing and selling solar-powered products. The company needed not only a name, but also the development and implementation of an identity and brand to create a high-impact brand world. MetaDesign worked with Endmark to develop the name, coinede the slogan “Let the fossils rest in peace.” and created the brand look. Corporate design, sound, 3D and interactive branding turn Younicos into an experience both inside and outside the company, communicating the confident look of a new brand.

This year 1,368 entries from 24 countries competed for the iF communication design award, which is held annually by the International Forum Design in Hanover. It is one of the most important design awards in the world. The golden iF awards will take place on 28 August 2009 at the BMW World in Munich.
